The African saying, “Give a man a fish he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish he will eat for a lifetime,” is indeed a wonderful ideology.
We believe at First Love Unbroken that the soul is where an individual carries the scars of the past. The soul of an individual is where the holes of life can be found as well as the wounds that have not healed properly. Being able to make good choices with real information in bad scenarios is key to long-term recovery, but that is not possible when there are holes or open wounds in our souls.
We will extend our experience/testimony as well as the power of the Blood of the Lamb to everyone we meet along First Love Unbroken’s journey. We will present evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavior Techniques (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) SOZO healing along with education on the effects of drugs that are abused & alcohol use that is abusive—using a Biblical 12-step format to help individuals heal properly & self-examine themselves by using the Bible correctly through the lens of love & Grace.
Coping skills, decision-making tools, and love and understanding will help those we minister to develop positive usage of said tools in every scenario possible when dealing with stressful situations if they are willing. We know that music ushers in the presence of the LORD, but so do acting or role-playing, skits & musicals. Building these performances in the community will be an intricate part of First Love Unbroken.
Life skills will be implemented to build character & to test the repairs that are being implemented in our mentees' lives. We believe that if you teach a man to examine himself, he will see the ugliness of sin & want to change, but if you teach a man that his soul can be made whole & sin no more, he will change the world.
(John 5:14; John 8:1; NIV).
